Covington, Ind. - A Troy Township native, Mrs. Artie Brooks, 90, died in a Fargo, N.D. hospital Saturday morning. She had been ill several years and had fallen and broken her hip recently. Services were being held in North Dakota. Born near Covington, May 7, 1878, she was the daughter of Roy and Emma DeHaven. Mrs. Brooks taught school here several years prior to her marriage in 1904 to Ed. Brooks of Veedersburg. Soon after their marriage, they moved to North Dakota where she taught school about 40 years. Mr. Brooks preceded her in death. Mrs. Brooks is survived by a sister, Mrs. Isora Strader of Attica; three nieces, Mrs. Edith Auter and Mrs. Mildred Hovermale of Covington, and Mrs. Dorothy Rhodes of Battle Ground; four sons and two daughters in the West.
