Mark M. Briney, age 85, resident of Portland Arch and a retired farmer, died at midnight, Sept. 11, at his home following a seven-year illness. He had been seriously ill three years. Born Dec. 25, 1876, in Fountain County, he was the son of Dan and Mary Kell Briney. He was married in 1913 to Lessie Auter. Mr. Briney is survived by his wife; a son, Robert Briney, of Hillsboro; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Atkinson, of Morocco; two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers. The body is at the Hegg Funeral Home, where friends may call after noon Thursday. The funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. E. E. McConnell will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Attica.
