Attica, Ind. (CNS) – William Vetchel Simmons, 42, of Attica Route 3, died at 2:30 a.m. today (Oct. 16, 1967) in an out-of-town hospital. He had been a patient there one week. Born July 30, 1925, at Randolph, Ky., he was the son of Nara and Mattie Peirce Simmons. He was married Nov. 14, 1947, at Edmonton, Ky., to Naomi Poynter, who survives. They have resided at Attica for the past 16 years. He was employed at Harrison Steel Foundry during that time. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Michael of Lafayette, Terry and Gary, both at home; three daughters, Joan, Lynn and Mattie, all at home; three brothers, Olie of Attica Route 4, Denzel of Wingate and Delbert of Attica; and two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Bromfield and Mrs. Edith Myres, both of Wingate. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home. The Rev. Eldon Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
