Clarence E. Ricketts, 72, of Lafayette, Ind., died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 14, 1972) at Lafayette Home Hospital. He had been ill since May. He was the father of Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Cole, deputy county clerk of Vermilion County. He was born Aug. 22, 1900, in Warren County, Ind. He married Marie Clark Sept. 4, 1937, in Valparaiso, Ind., and she survives. In addition to the daughter, four sisters survive; Mrs. Lora Haupt of Bismarck, Mrs. Edward Meyers of Chandler, Ariz, and Mrs. Ruth Ware and Mrs. Pearl Murphy, both of West Lebanon, Ind.; and three grandchildren. He was a resident of Lafayette most of his life. He worked as an auto mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hippen-Steele Funeral Rome in Lafayette. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette. Clarence Edward Ricketts, 72, of 2320 Rogers St., died at 12:20 a.m. today in Home Hospital, following a six-month illness. Born in Warren County, Mr. Ricketts lived most of his life in Lafayette. He was employed in the maintenance department at St. Elizabeth Hospital for four years, retiring in 1965. Prior to that he worked as an automobile mechanic and had been employed by Everett German and by Charles Rush. In 1937 at Valparaiso he was married to Marie Clark, who survives. He attended the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force in Australia. Surviving with the wife are a daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Cole of Danville, Ill.; and four sisters, Mrs. Laura Haupt of Bismark, Ill., Mrs. Edward (Mary) Meyers of Chandler, Ariz., Mrs. Ruth Ware and Mrs. Pearl Murphy, both of West Lebanon.
