Waynetown, Sept. 12. — Pfc. Gwendolyn McKee, 32, husband of Mrs. Maxine Graves McKee, who was killed in action in France Aug. 23, was born at Veedersburg April 9, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ransom McKee. He spent his boyhood in Veedersburg and Steam Corner. In 1924 the family moved to the Stanfield farm south of Waynetown where Pfc. McKee resided until he enlisted in the army. He began his service with the armed forces March 5, 1942, and was sent to France in July, 1944, after serving in Wales and England since Oct. 9, 1943. Training in this country was at Camp Livingston, La., Camp Gordon Johnston, Fla., and Camp Pickett, Va. Pfc. McKee was a graduate of the Waynetown high school, and a member of the school basketball team two years. The widow, and the parents reside on the Stanfield farm, south of here.

Waynetown, March 29 – Funeral services for Pfc Gwendolyn McKee will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. The body was to arrive at Waynetown Wednesday noon.  Pfc. McKee was born April 9, 1912, at Veedersburg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ransom McKee. He spent his boyhood at Veedersburg and Steam Corner, the family moving to a farm near Waynetown from Steam Corner. Pfc. McKee was an only child, was graduated from Waynetown HS in 1933. He was a star player on the high school basketball team. Following his graduation, he was employed at the aluminum plant, Lafayette and the Boldt Milling Company, Waynetown.  He entered service from the latter firm on March 5, 1942 and had his Army training at Camp Livingston, LA; Camp Gordon Johnston, Fla and Camp Pickett, Va prior to being sent overseas.  He was killed in action in France Aug 23, 1944 having been sent to France on Oct 9, 1943 after having been on duty in England and Wales.  In addition to his parents, who have recently moved to Veedersburg, Pfc McKee is survived by his former widow, the former Miss Maxine Graves of Waynetown whom he married May 26, 1941.  The widow has since been married and is now the wife of Maurice Fuller of Chalmers.
