Newtown, March 21 - Mr. and Mrs. Carl Quiggle have been informed by the Navy Department that as an entire year has now passed since their son, Lt. (jg) Charles Quiggle was reported missing and as no trace of his place has been found, he is being officially reported as dead.

Lt. (jg) Quiggle, then an officer in the Naval Reserve, was on an anti-submarine patrol flight off of the coast of Great Britain. No report was ever received from the plane after the start of the flight.

A light house keeper on the coast of Ireland reported the crash of a plane at the time of the disappearance of Lt. Quiggle's plane on February 27, 1944.  He said however, the search for wreckage was without success.

A Navy Chaplain, who had a son on the same plane, also made an investigation after he had learned of the crash of the plane. The chaplain's investigation revealed not a single trace of anything that could be identified as a part of the missing plane was ever found.

Lt. Quiggle was the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Quiggle. Previous to his enlistment he had been employed in Indianapolis where he was a member of the famous Flying Eagles.   --- transcribed by kbz
