WWII-KIA-KROUT, Kenneth

Kenneth Krout was born in Montgomery County, on August 22, 1918 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Krout and lived all of his life in Montgomery and Fountain Counties.  He was married to Albert Zeigler, of Veedersburg and was the father of two daughters, Patty Ann and Sharon Kay and one son, Kenneth Ray.

Besides the father and mother and his own family, Kenneth is survived by seven brothers: Gerald, overseas with the Army and twice wounded; Clarence, also overseas and who was wounded on February 2; Ora; Lyle; Dale of Veedersburg and Ernie and Keith at home; four sisters, Mrs. Reeca Trinkle and Mrs. Mildred Booe both of Veedersburg and Julia and Betty at home.

Veedersburg - Feb 6 - Pfc Kenneth Krout, 25, was reported missing in action in Germany Jan 15, according to a War Department telegram receive by his wife, Mrs. Albert Krout, here Monday. Pfc. Krout was serving with the heavy artillery. He was wounded in action in France and only recently returned to active duty. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Krout of Veedersburg are his parents and his son and daughter also live here with Mrs. Krout. He is a native of this city and had spent most of his life here before entering the army.

Mrs. Alberta Krout of Veedersburg has received a telegram from the War Department informing her that her husband, Pfc. Kenneth Krout, aged 26, was killed in action in Belgium on Jan. 13. Previously he had been reported as missing., Pfc. Krout, infantryman, was wounded in action in France in July and was in the hospital three months before returning to active duty. Truck driver of Pitman Trucking Co., he was born Aug 27 1918 at Alamo and had spent all his life in Montgomery and Fountain Counties. When he was a small child his parents moved to Veedersburg. Surviving besides the widow and three children, are six brothers, Ora Krout of Veedersburg, Gerald Krout now serving in Germany with the US Army, Dale and Keith Krout, both at home, Lyle Krout, discharged veteran of World War Two of Covington and Clarence Krout of the US Marines, and by four sisters, Misses Judy and Betty Krout, at home, Mrs. Charles Booe of Veedersburg and Mrs. Bert Trimble of Sterling.   --- thanks to Betty D :) Greatly appreciated !!
