Mrs. Floyd Darding of Veedersburg has been notified that her brother Pfc. Denzil E. Hurst was killed in Action in Leyte on Oct 27 (1944). He was employed by the Nickle Plate Railroad in Veedersburg when he was
inducted into the army on Sept 16 1942. ==kbz

Rainsville, Dec 7 – Mr. and Mrs. Arty Hurst have received word that their son, Pfc. Denzil E. Hurst, 24., was Killed In Action in Leyte, Philippines, Oct 27. He was inducted into the Army Sept 16, 1942. Later he fought in the battle of Attu Kwajaleen and Leyte. He was a member of the veteran 7th division and had never been home since being inducted. He attended school here and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was employed as a farm hand when he was inducted. Surviving besides his parents are five sisters and two brothers.
