WWII-KIA-BANTA, John William - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

BANTA, John William.  Ensign USNR.  Born 16 October 1914 to 12 November 1942 ( Birth Record H-8 p 107 has his birth date as 15 October 1914).  Buried in Manila, Philippines at the American Cemetery - member of the USS Buchanan - one of first Naval officers to be killed in WWII. His parents were: Ambrose Banta and Martha Edna Sanders.   He had only been married to his wife, Maxine for a couple of months.  There is also a memorial to him in the Covington Cemetery.  findagrave entry -- has his picture
