Pfc. Joseph Perry Nelson, 38, Cayuga, who was reported Missing In Action Dec 24, 1944, was killed Dec 5, 1944, according to word received last week by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Nelson.  Pfc. Nelson has been in service three years, taking his basic training at Camp Cook, Calif; Indio Desert, Calif; Nashville, Tenn and Pine Camp NY.  Nelson had been overseas one year and in august 1944, was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in France.  Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Nelson; two step sons, Perry Eston and Virgil Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn H. Runyan, Cayuga; one half sister, Mrs. Helen Moore, Campbell, Ohio; three brothers, Duncan Perry, Long Beach, Calif; Harry Perry, San Pedro, Calif and Clifford of Fort Stanton, New Mexic

Pfc. Joseph P. Nelson husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Nelson of Cayuga, has been Killed in Action in Germany on Dec 5, according to word received by his wife last week.  Pfc Nelson was in the 3rd Army (Heavy Artillery) and was employed with Coffing Brothers before entering the service. The last letter Mrs. Nelson received from her husband was Nov 19, their first wedding anniversary.
