Although he was born in Helt Township, Vermillion Co IN 30 March 1919 – died 13 Dec 1944 he is buried in the Netherland American Cemetery Limburg, Netherland and died from battle 13 Dec 1944

He left from Covington and his wife, Dorothy Gobel  was notified by the War Department that Pfc. Ivan P. Farner had been missing in action in Germany since Dec 13.  Private Farner entered the service March 30, 1944 and received his basic training at Camp Fannin, Texas. He had been overseas since September.

He was the son of Ivan Ora and Mary Melinda Williams Farner. His father died earlier in 1944 (March) according to FindAGrave but not sure it is correct as Ivan Ora’s obituary does not mention a son and he would have just left for the service. Plus Ivan Sr had only two brothers and two sisters listed as survivors and had lived most of his life in the Garrett, Indiana area.
