The remains of Pfc. Forrest O. Brooks, who lost his life in the service of his country will arrive in Attica Friday at 1:07 p.m. on the Wabash Railroad and be taken to Coffing and Robinson funeral chapel and will life in state until the time of the funeral services. Services will be held in the Coffing and Robinson Funeral Chapel at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. Douglas Dickey officiating. The local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will have charge of the military service. Forrest O. Brooks, son of Mrs. Martha Brooks spent his life in Attica up to his enlistment in the Army and attended the local schools. Forrest was a boy of pleasing personality always with a smile on his face and made many friends. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery with Coffing & Robinson Funeral directors in charge. Pfc Brooks lost his life on the island of Luzon Feb 7, 1945. He left Attica with the local National Guard company Jan 17, 1941 and went overseas in December 1943. He received two combat stars and the Phillippine Liberation Medal. His Purple Heart award was presented posthumously to his mother.
