In March 1966, a plane piloted by Capt. John M. Nash, 29 was shot down in Southeast Asia. To this day, his family doesn't know for certain if he is dead or alive. At noon today the Vietnam Veterans of Mid-North Indiana will observe national MIA/POW Day with a 21-gun salute, a speech and the release of 2500 b alloons - all at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse. They want people to remember that the fat e of 2,500 AMericans lost in SOutheast Asia is still unresolved.
There are 71 men from Indiana listed as missing in action in SOutheast Asia, among them Nash and George Curtis Green, Jr. from Attica.
Tim Nash, the brother of Capt. John Nash, doesn't think people remember these men at all.  "If you walked out on the street oday and asked a perfect stranger what  POW or an MIA is they probably wouldn't know what you were talking about," Nash of Thorntown said Friday... "My brother was shot down in March of 1966 about 111 miles northwest of Tchepone, Laos," Nash said.  "But it would be six years b efore my family would even be told what country he went down in. And it would be 17 years before we knew exactly wher ehe was shot down."  ...
