KW-OBIT-LOCKE, Arthur Raymond - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Arthur Raymond Locke 41, of Rural Route 1, West Point, Ind., was killed probably instantly, in an accident at the Sohigro Fertilizer Plant east of West Point on SR 25, about 3:00 p. m. There were no witnesses, discovery being made by an office employee. Mr. Locke was employed as maintenance man at the plant and he had been operating a tractor with a front end loader. For some reason he had dismounted and had been working on the ground when the scoop dislodged, falling on him. Mr. Locke was born April 4, 1933, on Attica R 2. He was the son of William E. Locke, Sr. and Minerva Lyman. He resided at Riverside, moving to the West Point community about 12 years ago. He was married to Ramona June Poynter on Sept. 18, 1954, at Attica. He graduated from Attica High School. He was employed as maintenance man at the Sohigro plant and was a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Riverview Methodist church at Independence; the Attica Eagles Lodge and V. F. W. He is survived by his wife, his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Pycke; two sons, Edmon Darrell and Glen Dale, two daughters Teresa June and Wanda Gail; two brothers, William E. Locke, Jr., of Attica R 2, and James Franklin of Huntsville, Alabama; four sisters, Mrs. Violet Bushman of Ekron, Ky.; Mrs. Margaret McCaw of Lafayette; Mrs. Donna Quinn and Delores Oursler, both of Attica. Friends may call at the Dale Maus Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Friday. Funeral services in Maus Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. Hallie Taylor officiating. Burial in Salem cemetery. The Attica V. F. W. will be in charge of miliary rites.
