Kingman - John Ephlin, 26, a veteran of WWII and of service in Korea died Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock at Billings Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient since Friday. Born March 6, 1925 in Kingman, he was the son of Edgar and Hallie Keller Ephlin. He married Doris Ann Akers in November of 1947. He was a member of the Christian Church at Pine Village and of the Modern Woodmen's Lodge in Kingman. Ephlin had remained in the Army reserve following his discharge from service at the end of WWII. He was recalled to active duty and spent a year on duty in Korea, returning home in August 1951. Until his marriage he had spent his entire life in Kingman. At that time he moved to Pine Village, living there until entering service during WWII. Following his discharge, he had resided in Champaign, Ill, until moving to Crawfordsville several weeks ago. Surviving are the widow; a son, Michael; the parents, a brother, Eugene of Des Moines, Ia; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Maxwell of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Irene Carter and Mrs. Virginia Penick, both of Kingman; the grandmother, Mrs. Janie Mann of Kingman and two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held from the Christian Church in Kingman Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Harold Miles will be in charge and burial in Fraternal cemetery.

Maurice John Ephlin, 26, a former Kingman resident and veteran of WWII and Korean War, died at 1:30 a. m. Sunday Dec 30, 1951 at Billings Veterans Administration Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient since Friday. Death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage. He was born March 6, 1925 in Kingman, son of Edgar and Hallie Keller Ephlin. He was married in1 947 to Doris ANn Akers, who survives. He was a member of the Christian Church in Pine Village and Kingman Lodge, Modern Woodmen of America. He served in the Pacific area in WWII and was recalled to service from the Reserves serving a yea rin Korea prior to his discharge in August of this year. He was a resident of Champaign following his discharge until he moved his family to Crawfordsville 3 days ago. Surviving besides the wife are the parents, a son, Michael at home; a brother, Eugene of Des Moines, Iowa; 3 sisters, MRs. Doris Maxwell of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Irene Carter; Mrs. Virginia Peck, both of Kingman and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Janie Mann of Kingman and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the home of the parents in Kingman where it will remain until time for services at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Kingman Christian Church, Rev. Harold Miles of Plainville, ind will officiate. Burial will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery with Spencer Funeral Home of Kingman in Charge.
