DOW - Misner, Wm Leroy

Sgt. William LeRoy Misnerm, son of the late Charles L. and Rosa E. Misner of Attica, died in a Manila Hospital May 10, 1945, as a result of wound received in action on Luzon the preceding day, May 9th.  

Bill, as he was most familiarly known, was a member of Company F, National Guard when the local unit was mobilized and incorporated in the US Army.  He went overseas in 1943.  He was a member of the picked guard of honor for Gen. Douglas MacArthur on his return to Corregidor and was a veteran of the battle of Zigzag Pass and Bataan.  He held the American defense ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Phillippines Liberation ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with two campaign stars.  Sgt. Misner was born in Attica Feb 12, 1922. He was married to Ollie Dupre of Pineville, LA on June 3rd, 1943.

Surviving besides the widow are the following brothers and sisters: Charles D; James F; Betty Misner; Mrs. Oland Hart and Mrs. Herbert Pruitt, all of Lafayette; Mrs. Cecil Hines of Danville, Ill; Mrs. Delbert Vice of Boswell and Pfc. Richard Misner who is overseas.
