Enlisted in Company A, 2nd Infantry, Virginia National Guard, Farmville, Va., January 11, 1915. Living in Indianapolis when called to serve on Mexican Border, July 1, 1916. Assigned to Company G, 116th Infantry, 29th Division. Overseas June 15, 1918. Killed in action October 8, 1918, Malbrouk Hill, Meuse-Argonne Forest, France. Buried at Brabant-sur-Meuse, near Verdun, France.
