GEORGE LEE COFFING -- Son of William and Emma Coffing; born January 15, 1895, Covington, Ind. Student in Wabash College when he enlisted in aviation service in July, 1917, Chicago, Ill. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Discharged on account of physical disability. Re-enlisted November 25, 1917, Toronto, Canada, with Royal Aviation Corps, British Army. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. Ordered overseas. Killed in airplane accident February 24, 1919, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Body returned to U.S., and buried in Covington, Ind..
