EARL LELAND FINE - Pvt son of Jacob 7 Maria Fine b. Oct 18, 1894, Jackson Twp, Fountain Co IN Barber. Entered Service June 24, 1918 Covington ind Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 17th Co, 5th Training Battalion 158th Depot Brigade. Went overseas Sept 1, 1918; assigned to Co D, 334th Infantry. Transferred to Co C, 16th Inf. Died pneumoinia Nov 1, 1918 base hospital No. 216, Nantes, France; body returned to US buried Lutheran Cem, Wallace, Ind.

The body of Earl Fine, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Fine, of Wallace was brought here on Monday coming from France. The boy died of pneumonia in the base hospital in Nantes, November 1918. The two brothers, Clarence and Austin were here to receive the body. Funeral services were held at the Wallace Lutheran Church on Sunday. He was 24 years old and belonged to Co C 16th Inf. Private ND Rogers accompanied the body from France. He has a brother, CE Rogers in Frankfort.
