CLAUDE TOBEY (believe first name is John) -- Son of Henry and Clara Tobey; born January 14, 1895, Veedersburg, Fountain County, Ind. Moved to Vermillion County in 1893. Farmer. Entered service May 27, 1918, Newport, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 27th Company, 7th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Beauregard, La.; assigned to Battery F, 142nd Field Artillery, 39th Division. Overseas about September 4, 1918. Died at Camp Hospital, Camp Coctquidan, France, October 4, 1918.
