Joyce
Irene Lane, 70, of Rensselaer, passed
away on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Rensselaer Care Center.
She was born July 3,
1932 in Rensselaer to Lloyd Delos and Wilda Irene (DeWees) Dunn.
A lifetime resident of
Jasper County, Joyce graduated from Fair Oaks High School in 1950.
She had been a
bookkeeper and enjoyed doing genealogy.
She was a past president
of the local chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority, the
charter president of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, a member of the
General Van Rensselaer Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, a St. Joseph's College Fellow, a 20-year member of the St.
Joseph's College chorus, and a Democratic member of the Jasper County
Absentee Election Board.
She was a member of the
St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer.
On December 1, 1951, at
the St. Augustine Church in Rensselaer, she married Joseph A. Lane, who
survives.
Besides her husband, she
is survived by a daughter, Carol (Harvey) Wood of Rensselaer, two sons,
Stephen (Joyce L.) Lane of Rensselaer and David (Debra) of Ft.
Lauderdale, FL; three sisters, Marlene (Robert) Simonin of Medford, OR;
Nancy (Maryland Jr) Justice of Rensselaer, and Gayla (Roger) Warran of
Rensselaer; a brother, Paul (Valorie) Dunn of Rensselaer; five
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her mother, Wilda Irene
Florence of Rensselaer.
She was preceded in
death by her father and a granddaughter.
Visitation was held on
Sunday, January 12 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Rosary
service was held that evening. Funeral services were held on Monday,
January 13 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. Burial
followed at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rensselaer.
