SAMUEL SHENK was born in Lebanon County, Penn., October 15, 1829, and is one of six children born to Abraham and Magdelena (Overholser) Shenk, both natives of Pennsylvania. Abraham Shenk died on his farm in Lebanon County, Penn., in his forty-eighth-year, and when Samuel was only ten years old; the family then moved to Annville, where Samuel attended school and worked by the job until eighteen years old. He then worked on a farm by the month and year until twenty-two, and then on shares for two years. In the spring of 1856, be came to this township and bought the farm of 160 acres on which he has ever since resided, and which is now one of the best in the township.' He was married, October 26, 1852, to Catharine M. Belim, a native of Lebanon County, Penn. One son and one daughter have blessed their union - Daniel H. and Clara B. In politics, Mr. Shenk is a Republican.
