He was married, November 21, 1844, to Rebecca Wright, who has borne him eight children- Byron, John, Eva, Margaret, Albert, Ada, Dora and Frank. His present residence is five miles northeast of Monticello, and he is owner of a well-cultivated farm of 240 acres, on which is a large and comfortable two-story frame dwelling. He has spent six years of his life at black smithing, three years as a merchant, four as a shipper of live stock, but his chief attention has been given to farming.
