WILLIAM A. HOLLADAY was born in Tippecanoe County, Ind., September 24, 1844, and is the eldest of fourteen children born to James and Mary (Acord) Holladay, both natives of Ohio, and of Irish and German descent respectively. In 1828 or 1829, when about six years old, James Holladay came to Tippecanoe County with his parents, and was there reared and married. In 1845, he came to this county and engaged in farming in Prairie and West Point Townships. September 1, 1874, he died, a member of the Christian Church; his widow, a member of the Baptist Church, is now a resident of this township. William A. Holladay was employed on the home farm until twenty-one years old; he then farmed on shares until 1872, when he bought 120 acres of land in this township, on which he is still living; he was married, February 22, 1872, to Christina Burroughs, a native of Carroll County,-Ind., born October 24, 1843, and daughter of Jacob and Maria M. (Ramey) Burroughs, who were among the pioneers of Tippecanoe County. To this union have been born three children-Lee E., Nellie G. and Alta B. In politics, Mr. Holladay is a Democrat. Mrs. Holladay is a member of the Christian Church.
