HENRY HEINY, of the firm of Heiny & Good, is a native of Wayne County, Ind., was born in 1838, and is the fifth of the eleven children born to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Lantz) Heiny, natives of Pennsylvania. The family came to Carroll County, Ind., at an early day, and there the father died in 1861, aged sixty-one years. Henry Heiny was reared on a farm until sixteen years of age, when he began the carpenter's trade, which he followed until his enlistment, July 20, 1862, in the Seventy-second Mounted Infantry, then known as the Lightning Brigade. He served under Gen. Thomas, and was at Hoover's Gap, Flat Shoals, Ga., Rome, Chickamauga, Ebenezer Church, Selma, Columbia, etc., and his company was the first to enter Macon, Ga. He received his final discharge at Indianapolis July 6, 1865. On his return, lie developed a farm in Adams Township, Carroll County, two and a half miles south of Idaville, which be still makes his home. In the spring of 1882, he engaged in the agricultural implement trade in Idaville, and in the following July received Mr. Good as partner. The firm now carry a fall line of implements and agricultural machinery. Mr. Heiny was married, in 1878, to Miss Sarah Jane, daughter of David and Deborah (Hobson) Coble. To this union have been born two children- Florit . and Elmore E. Mr. H. is a Republican, and a member of  I.O.O.F. Lodge, No. 506.
