Be it remembered that on the 11 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine the last will and testament of Thomas McChan was duly proved before the Clerk of the Probate Court of said county by the oaths of the two subscribing witnesses thereto which wil and testament with the certificate endorsed thereon was filed then in the office of the Clerk of said County for record and reads in the words and figures following to wit: ~~

I, Thomas McChan of Warren County in the state of Indiana do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any former time heretofore made.

I direct first that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as possible after my decease out of the first monies that shall come to the hand of my executor from any portion of my estate and to execute this my intention.

I hereby vest my executor with full power and authority to dispose of all or so much of my personal property as will pay all my outstanding debts and also direct that the whole of my household furnature and also all the personal property after paying the aforesaid debts except such articles excepted shall be and remain in the absolute property of my wife.

I also direct that the whole of my real estate shall be and remain in the absolute property of my wife as long as she shall live.

I also direct that after her death all the real estate and personal property shall vest in my two granddaughters Mary Jane McChan and Deborah McChan to be equally divided between Mary Jane McChan and Deborah McChan except one burow I give to Mary Jane McChan the above named children are illegitimate children.

I also give and bequeath to my son John one set of Iron Harrow teeth and also my share of the windmill and also one hundred dollars at the death of my wife.

I  also give and bequeath to my son Thomas one dollar.

I also give and bequeath to my daughter Jane one Big Kettle and also one dollar.

And I hereby make and ordain my son John McChan executor of this my last will and testament.

In Witness whereof I Thomas McChan the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this the seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.

Signed sealed and published and delivered by the within named Thomas McChan as his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of said testator and in the presence of each other.
