North Manchester News Journal, May 1914: "Death claimed Mrs. Hannah Alger at the home of her son Freeman Alger, two and one-half miles south of Jamesville last Tuesday at noon. Her death was caused by the infirmities of old age and was no unexpected as she had been ill and feeble for some time. Hannah Richardson was born in Belmont County, Ohio, November 8, 1820 and when quite young came to Indiana with her parents and lived in Fayette County. After her marriage to Martin Alger, they moved to the farm near Jamesville. This was in 1849. Mr. and Mrs. Alger spent their entire married life on the farm and at the death of Mr. Alger, 26 years ago the son, Freeman, took charge of the farm. Mrs. Alger made her home with her son since her husband's death. Left to mourn her death are Freeman Alger at whose home she died, Leander and Marshall, both near Laketon, Jefferson of Michigan, Mrs. Andrew Baker of North Manchester and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the home where she died, Rev. Jaynes officiating. Burial in the Alger Cemetery."
