Mrs. SUSAN A. FABLE was born in Vermilion County, IL, May 26, 1833. She was married to WILLIAM J. PERRIN January 16, 1858. He died in the Army February 19, 1863, leaving her with two small boys, JOHN W. and JAMES B., aged 4 and 2 respectively. She was married to ANTHONY FABLE in Eugene, IN, October 22, 1865. At this time she was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but there being no organized church of that denomination in Eugene, she withdrew from it in 1870, having been a member for 10 years, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. She died October 22, 1880, after a lingering illness of nearly a year, leaving, in addition to the 2 boys already mentioned, one daughter, Perrin, aged about 14 years. Her funeral service was conducted in the M.E. Church in Eugene on Sunday the 24th instant, by Rev. Isaac Dale, of Perrysville. In her death the husband has lost an amiable and devoted wife, the children a kind and indulgent mother, the church a true and exemplary member, and community a generous, attentive, and sociable neighbor.
Funeral services for JOHN N. FENTON, 72, Fairview, who died at the Vermillion County Hospital last night, will be held at the Ryan-Masselink Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Fenton, who had resided in this vicinity for 40 years, is survived by 3 children; Mrs. H.L. Chambers, Bloomington, IL; Mrs. Mary Barron, Indianapolis; and Robert, who resides in Wisconsin. He also has 6 grandchildren.
Mr. Fenton was a member of the Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church.
Died of Dropsy
Mrs. JOE FINNEY, of Newman, IL, a daughter of the late JOHN R. PORTER of Helt township, died one day last week of dropsy. She had a surgical operation performed a few days before her death by eminent physicians, but it failed to benefit her any, and she continued to sink until death relieved her from all earthly ills.
Perrysville -- Joseph Fishback, 85-year-old farmer, died at 8:55 p. m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 1962 in the Vermillion Nursing Home where he had been a patient since Sept. 28. Mr. Fishback had been an assessor 34 years in McKendree Township and had served many years on school boards. He was a member of Lowe's Chapel 66 years. He was born June 10, 1877 in Perrysville, the son of James A. and Carrie Chambers Fishback. On Feb. 25, 1903, he was married to Alice Dunivan who survives, along with a foster son, Wayne Brooks of Danville. Mr. Fishback was the last of five children in his family. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home with burial in Niccum Cemetery. Pallbearers were Amos Breezly, Earl Breezly, Richard Kemna, Dale Gouty, John Wilson and Roscoe Fishback.

Mrs. Floy Jean Fisher, 58, of this community, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday in the Vermillion County Hospital at Clinton. Born Aug. 20, 1904 at Dana, she was the daughter of John and Lydia Nolan Richards. Surviving are four sons, John of Roachdale, Wayne of Marshall, Jerry, who is serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, and Mike of Marshall; four daughters, Mrs. Jean Thompson of Rickville, Mrs. Louise Shoaf of Kingman, Mrs. Audrey Willhite of Marshall and Mrs. Phyllis Cooper of Rockville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lucile McIntosh of Burbank, Calif., a stepson, George Fisher of Florida and 14 grandchildren. The body was taken to Barnes’ Mortuary at Rockville where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. C. C. Griggs officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery at Montezuma. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Rockville, Ind. - Mrs. Iva M. Fisher, 77, of Rockville Route 3, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday (Oct 16, 1971) at the Union Hospital in Terre Haute following a short illness. Born in Vermillion county on Jan 26, 1894, she was the daughter of Henry and Mae Conner Thornton. She was married on Oct 12, 1915, to Clay fisher who died May 11, 1969. A former resident of Mishawaka, she attended the Baptist Church in Mishawaka and Rockville. She was a member of the New Bethel Home Demonstration Club. Survivors include a son, Bill Miller of Pontiac, Mich; two step-brothers, Roy Funkhouser of Farmersburg and Earl Funkhouser of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Butler Funeral Homer. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Monday.
Dana, January 3 -- WILLIAM FITZGERALD, a retired farmer and coal dealer, died yesterday at his home after being in failing health for 8 years. His death is attributed to a complication of diseases.
A life time resident of this community, he was born August 20, 1871, in Putnam County, the son of Maurice and Ellen Fitzgerald. On July 20, 1909, he was united in marriage to Anna Temple.
Survivors are the wife; two sisters, Josie Reed and Ella Jackson, and two brothers, Tom and John, all of this community.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Sacred Heart Church at Clinton.
Special to the Tribune, Clinton, IN, October 23 -- Word has been received here of the death of MADDISON FONCANNON, a former resident here, which occurred Saturday afternoon at the home of a son, Floyd Foncannon of Limon, CO. Death was attributed to advanced age and complications. Survivors are the son Floyd; a daughter, Mrs. Cora Jones of Hugo, CO; 4 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Dowdy of Ft. Worth, TX; Mrs. Laura Dunkley and Mrs. Mollis Dowdy, both of R.R. 3, Clinton; and Mrs. Phoebe Hughes of Clinton. Funeral services and burial will be in Colorado.
Mrs. ANNA JAGGERS FOOS, wife of "Dink" Foos, passed to that world beyond on Tuesday evening of last week. She was afflicted with consumption and had been sick for several weeks.
Short and Spicy -- The infant child of Joe Foos, on East Extension Street, which has been in poor health for a long time, is lying at the point of death with no hope for its recovery.
Infant Child Died -- ARCHIE FOOS, the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Foos of this place, died at 12:40 o'clock yesterday morning, aged 9 months. The little fellow had been suffering with scrofula for the past five and 1/2 months, which was the cause of his death. The funeral will occur sometime this forenoon. The remains will be interred at the Wimsett Cemetery, southeast of town.
Little BESSIE FOOS, daughter of Joseph Foos, of Opedee, aged about 9 months, died of croup on last Friday night, and was buried in the Winsett Cemetery on Saturday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
Last Rites for CLAUDE M. FOOS Held Tuesday -- CLAUDE M. FOOS, 66 year old Newport grocer and director of the Citizens State Bank here died unexpectedly in his sleep at 12:30 a.m. Sunday from a heart condition which he had suffered for some time.
Born November 9, 1892 in Vermillion County, he was the son of Joseph and Lovisa Potter Foos. Mr. Foos was a member of the United Brethren Church, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge No. 209 at Newport, the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodmen Lodges of Newport. The well known resident had owned and operated a general store in Newport for the past 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Zona; one son, Roscoe Foos of Newport; one sister, Miss Edyth Foos of Terre Haute; two brothers, Enoch Foos and Edgar Foos of Clinton; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Newport Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Kenneth C. Burns officiating. The Brown Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge with burial in the Thomas Cemetery, with graveside Masonic rites.
Former Blanford Resident Dies -- EDGAR FOOS, 97, former Blanford resident, died at the home of his daughter in Chicago, Wednesday, at about 5 p.m. The body will be returned to the Frist Funeral Home here where funeral arrangements are pending.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. Rose Hamilton of 819 West 35th Place, Chicago, he is survived by 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-granchildren; and a sister, Miss Edith Foos of Newport.
EDYTH M. FOOS, 87, of Newport, died at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday in the Holiday Home in Clinton where she had been ill for the past month.
Miss Foos was born in Vermillion County, Indiana, November 18, 1888 to Joseph and Lovisa Potter Foos. She owned and operated for many years a dry goods store in Rosedale and after the sale of the business was employed as a clerk in many area dry goods stores. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Terre Haute, attended the Methodist Church in Newport, and was active in the Queen Esther Sunday School Class of the church.
Five brothers and three sisters of Miss Foos are all deceased. Several nieces and nephews survive.
The Malcolm DeVerter Funeral Home of Cayuga will be in charge of funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Thomas Cemetery at Newport. Friends may call Thursday 7-9 p.m.

ENOCH B. FOOS Jr., 50 years old, a former Clinton resident, died at 7 a..m. today in Fayetteville, NC, where he has resided for about 10 years.
A World War II veteran and former member of the Moose Lodge. He was the son of Enoch B. and Nettie Foos.

ERIC DEWAYNE FOOS, infant son of John and Regunia Dye Foos, former Clinton residents, died at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. He was one month and 29 days old. Besides the parents who reside in Newtown, IN, the infant is survived by a brother, Raymond, and 3 sisters, Tammy, Teresa, and Donna, all at home. JOE FOOS Dies After Long Illness
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for JOE FOOS, lifelong resident of Vermillion County. The services were held at the home and were conducted by Rev. C.E.Beebee. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery.
Mr. Foos had been ill for a number of years, following an injury in the Submarine mine at Clinton. Death came on Sunday morning, July 28th.
He was born near Newport, February 20, 1883, the son of Joseph and Lovisa Potter Foos. His life had been one of kindness to his family.
He is survived by the aged mother, Mrs. Lovisa Foos of Newport, the wife, 4 children, Marie, Louise, Frank, and Helen; 3 brothers, Edgar, Buck, and Claude; 4 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Grady, in MA, Mrs. Kate Swaim of Danville, IL; Mrs. Almetta Brown of Montezuma and Miss Edith Foos of Rosedale, and a large number of friends and relatives.
Deaths of the Week -- JOSEPH FOOS, a Civil War veteran of this place, died Monday night at his home on Extension Street of diabetes. He was born in Helt township, April 2, 1838, making his age at death 86 years. He served in three companies of the Civil War; Co. D of the 85th, Co. I of the 14th, and Co. I of the 43rd. The widow and 9 children survive. Funeral services will be held at the home, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Pengilly. Burial will be in the Thomas Cemetery.
Death Claims Many Well Known People During Past Week -- Mrs. LOVISA FOOS, 89 years old, died at 11 p.m., Sunday, at her home.
She was born on January 8, 1849, in Geneva, the daughter of Lucinda King and Washington Potter. On October 7, 1867 she married Joseph Foos, who died several years ago.
Mrs. Foos was a member of the Methodist Church and active in the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors are 4 daughters, Mrs. Almetta Brown of Montezuma, Mrs. Kate Swaim of Danville, Mrs. Bertha Grady of Ipswitch, MA, and Edith Foos of Bainbridge; 3 sons, Edgar of Blanford, Enoch of Clinton, and Claude of Newport; a grandson, Vorie Foos, and his wife who made their home with her and a number of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Baumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. E.T. Miles, pastor of the Methodist Church, in charge. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery, west of Newport.
LYDIA E. FOOS, 90, Route 51, Box 474, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, in Union Hospital. She was a member of 4 Square Church and a 57 year member of Royal Neighbors of America. Survivors include a son, Joseph, Lindon, Mich.; a daughter, Louise Robertson, Terre Haute; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ball-Porter Funeral Home with the Rev. B.L. Howse and the Rev. Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Newport, IN. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services for MAUDE JANE FOOS, 56, who died Saturday at 12:05 a.m. at the home of her mother in Newport, were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church with Rev. C.C. Harold officiating.
Mrs. Foos has lived in this community practically all of her life, and was a member of the Newport Methodist Church. She had been ill 3 years.
She was born November 4, 1890 in Edgar County, IN, the daughter of John and Ruma Sullivan Collins. On April 24, 1919, she married Vorie Foos, who survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ruma Collins, Newport; a son, Vorie Edwin, senior at Newport High School; daughter, Bonnye Olive Foos of Indianapolis; a brother, Lee Collins, Rockville.

Foos was arrested for drunken driving and driving under suspension and was taken to the jail at approximately 9:30 p.m. He gave no indication that he planned to take his life, Joe Libei, chief of police, reported. His body was found hanging from an iron bar at approximately midnight, and he had used his shirt to make a rope. Efforts to revive him failed, and County Coroner Nick Karanovich returned a verdict of suicide by hanging.
He was employed as a laborer on the Guy Briggs farm at the time of his death and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Mrs. REBECCA FOOS, age 88 years, died Friday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at her home in Newport.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the home with burial in the Thomas Cemetery. B.M. Bumgardner will be in charge.
VALENTINE FOOS of Hillsdale, well known in Helt township, died very suddenly at about 5 o'clock on last Friday evening, November 16, 1900. He was sitting in a chair in Roeback's saloon, in Hillsdale, leaning back against the wall, and had been conversing with someone about three minutes before he died. Heart failure is attributed as the cause. He never uttered a groan or moved out of the position he occupied in the chair.
The deceased was born in 1831, and moved with his parents to this county in 1837. His parents resided 2 or 3 miles west of Summit Grove, where the deceased grew to manhood. During the War of the Rebellion, he served his country faithfully in Co. D of the 85th Indiana Regiment. He was drawing a pension of $24 per month on heart disease, rheumatism, and other minor ailments. Vol had many warm friends and was highly esteemed by those who knew him best. He was a brother of Joe Foos of this place, who served in the same company. The funeral occurred from his late residence in Hillsdale at 10 o'clock on last Sunday morning, after which his remains were interred in the cemetery just north of Highland.
The following is the testimony of Lou C. Dinsmore, the bartender of the saloon where he died, which was taken by Coroner Hasty:
Lou C. Dinsmore, bartender for Roeback, being duly sworn, said: That the deceased, (VALENTINE FOOS), on the evening of November 16, 1900, was in my place of business. He was sitting in the window, back of the stove. He was joking us fellows about our hunting, and then fell off in a sleep. We noticed that he was groaning a little bit, and William Ponton spoke to him and told him to straighten up - that he might hurt his neck, judging from the position he was in. Foos looked up at Mr. Ponton but did not speak. A short time afterward, I looked at Foos, and he was looking pale in the face. At that time Ivey Clark came in the saloon and remarked that Foos looked like he was dead, and I made the remark that I believed he was dead, and told Clark to go and examine him, and he found him dead. We then called Dr. Newhouse, who came and examined Foos, and declared him dead. This was about 5 o'clock in the evening of November 16, 1900. I have frequently heard Foos say that he did not expect to live much longer, as he had already passed the age of most of his relation. After the doctor made out the death report, I assisted in removing Foos to his own house.
William Ponton and Ivey E. Clark testified to about the same state of facts.
VELMA FERN FOOS, 86, a resident of Littleton, CO, for the past two years, and formerly of Newport, died November 17, 2003, in Denver. Born November 29, 1916, in Springfield, IL, she was the daughter of the late William David and Jessie M. Millikan Craft. On May 31, 1933, in Covington, she married Roscoe P. Foos, and he survives. Other surviviors include one daughter, Peggy Uhey of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister. Private services were held with burial in Thomas Cemetery in Newport.

Clinton, IN, January 23 (Special) -- VORIE FOOS, 62 years old, of 321 North Sixth St., Clinton, died at 6:05 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Newport and was a clay worker by occupation. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Tripp, Indianapolis; one son, Vorie E. Foos, Washington D.C., and one half sister, Mrs. Rosie Hamilton, Chicago. The body is at the Frist Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery at Newport.
Newport -- ZONA MAE FOOS, 90, a life-long resident of Newport, died at 8 p.m. yesterday at Parke County Nursing Home in Rockville.
Born July 24, 1894, in Vermillion County, she was the daughter of Alva and Lillie Harvey Bonebrake.
In 1923, she and her husband, Claude, started Foos' Department Store in Newport where she worked for 55 years and sold the store in 1958 to their son Roscoe.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1959.
She was a member of Newport United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Roscoe, Newport; two sisters, Ethel Akers, Hillsdale; and Bessie Pierson, CA; one grandson, Roscoe Foos, Jr., Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Peggy Ann Uhey, Terre Haute; 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga with Pastors Jim and Ruby Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery in Newport. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JAMES OTIS FOOSE, son of Jesse and Rebecca Foose, born February 1, 1869 in Newport, Indiana. When he was 8 years of age, he came with his parents to Missouri. In September 1889 he united with Church of Christ at Pattersonville, MO. He was married April 6, 1890 to Miss Nannie Richardson who he met in 1889. In January this year he entered the Christian ministry and was proclaiming the Gospel as the power of God. He was a fluent speaker. He leaves a young wife, father, mother, brother and two sisters.
On the 2nd of this month, he crossed the Niangua River in a boat and in getting his gun out, the hammer caught on the edge of the boat and the gun fired, the load entering his left arm near the shoulder. He again leaped into the boat and rowed across the river and walked about 1-1/2 miles to his house. He grew worse, and on the 9th he died.
Newport Man, War Vet, Dies
Special to the Daily Clintonian -- Newport, April 8 - Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for JESSE FOOSE, Civil War veteran, who died at his home here Friday evening. The services were conducted at 2:30 at the Friend's Church. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery.
Mr. Foose was 89 years old and had lived in Newport for the past 12 years. His former home was in Missouri.
Surviving Mr. Foose are the widow, 2 daughters, Mrs. Hattie Buckner of Hereford, TX, and Mrs. M.E. Robinette of Reno, NV, and one son, Courtney Foose of Waverly, MO. Ten grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive.
After a severe illness of several months, Mrs. ROSANAH FORD, of Helt township, died at the home of her daughter, near St. Bernice, on October 7th, at 12 noon. Mrs. FORD was born in Ohio in the year 1812, and emigrated to this State when but a child. She was united in marriage to RICHARD FORD in the year 1832, but death was destined to destroy her wedded happiness in a short time, for in 1846 she was left a widow with 7 little children, all of whom she reared respectably, and lived to see them settled in life with families of their own. She leaves an aged sister, Mrs. REBECCA HOOD, who is the last immediate representative of her father-s family. Mrs. FORD was a consistent member of the M.E. Church and died in the hope of a blessed immortality and eternal life beyond the grave. Her death is a sad bereavement to her family and friends. Mrs. FORD was buried in the Helt-s Prairie Cemetery on October 8th, and her funeral will be preached by Rev. J.F. McDANIEL at Asbury Church on Sunday, October 31st. --ETTA B. A former Centenary resident, Mrs. Forte died last Wednesday. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Forte is survived by 2 sons, 3 daughters, 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
ARMSTRONG (CNS) -- Mrs. Ethel G. Foster, 60, of Indianapolis, died at 4:20 a.m. yesterday (March 9, 1969) at an Indianapolis Hospital. She had been ill five months.
Born Nov. 26, 1908, at Paxton, she was the daughter of Clarence A. and Dora Lyons Fagner. She was married in 1926 at Newport, Ind., to William Foster, a former resident of Armstrong. He survives. She was a member of the Forest Manor Methodist Church.
Other survivors include her parents of Rossville; three sons, George and Lowell, both of Indianapolis, and Dwain of Parker, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Frances Tuggle of Rossville; a brother, Gene of Champaign; and six grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lanham Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Hyee will officiate. Burial will be in Partlow Cemetery at Armstrong. The body is being returned to the funeral home. Friends will be received from noon Tuesday until time for services.
Homer Wesley Fox, Sr., age 70, former Vermillion County treasurer and deputy auditor, died at 6:30 a. m. Wednesday, May 15 [1957], at his residence, west of Perrysville. He had been in ill health for the past year. Mr. Fox was born Aug. 17, 1886 in Highland Township, Vermillion County, Ind., the son of Wesley A. and Susie Richardson Fox. He was married April 22, 1908 to Minnie Brewer, who survives. He had served as the Vermillion County treasurer for four years and as deputy auditor for eight years. He was a member of Unity Lodge No. 344, F. & A. M., of Perrysville and a Past Master. He also had served as secretary of the lodge for many years and was currently serving in that capacity. He was a member of the Masonic Chapter and Council of Danville, Ill., and was formerly a member of the Covington Chapter and Council. At the time of his death Mr. Fox was serving as president of the Vermillion County Hospital Board. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: one son, Homer W. Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Stine of Danville, Ill.; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Harry Martin of Attica. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Hopewell Baptist Church. The Rev. Grover Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery. The body will remain at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, where friends may call, until one hour before the service. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside by Unity Lodge 344.
William E. Fox, 86, of Rt. 2, Covington, did Tuesday in his home after an illness of several months. Mr. Fox had been employed by the Neal Gravel Co. and Indiana State Highway Department until his retirement in 1950. He had also been a carpenter for many years. Mr. Fox, a life resident of Gessie and Foster communities, was born Jan. 5, 1888 in Highland Township of Vermillion county, a son of Daniel A and Elizabeth Ricketts Fox. He was married to Marguerite Clem on Feb. 10, 1909. She died Jan. 25, 1970. Survivors include three sons, Richard of Covington, James of California and Glenno fEnglewood, Colo.; four daughters, Miss Reva Fox of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Evelyn Switzer of Rt. 2, Covington, Mrs. Elizabeth Bucholz of Rock Lake, N.D. and Mrs. Wilma Gose of Griffith; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Hines of Covington' 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a sister, two brothers, a grandson and a granddaughter. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Kissinger officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Clinton, IN, September 28 -- (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. RUTH HELEN FRANTZ, 32 years old, of R R 2, Clinton, who died at the Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Sunday, will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Frist Funeral Home. The Rev. Mrs. Belva Skidmore will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
CLINTON - Beulah Frist, 85, formerly of Clinton, died at 9:20 MST Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Jackson Hole, Wyo. She was a teacher for I.P.S. School Corp., Pike Township Schools, and Perrysville Schools.
She was born June 13, 1920, in Hillsdale to James L. Thomas and Golda L. Thomas-Nolan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Frist, whom she married on Dec. 12, 1942, and who died on Aug. 16, 1995. Survivors include, one daughter, Lisa Frist-Drenth and her husband Hank of Jackson Hole; two grandchildren, Melissa A. Drenth, and Johnny H. H. Drenth, both of Jackson Hole.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Church, in Avon, Allison's Camping and Good Sam's. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Karanovich-Giovanini Funeral Home, in Clinton, with the Revs. Karen DeVaisher and InSuk Hong Peebles officiating. Burial is in Helt's Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
"UNCLE DOLPH" FRIST DEAD
An old and Well Known Citizen Gone. Died at his home, 5 miles northwest
of Clinton, in Helt township, Tuesday, J.R. Frist, of apoplexy, from
which he had been suffering for the past two weeks. "Uncle
Dolph," as he was familiarly known is one of the oldest citizens of
this county. He resided on the same farm where he died for the last 40
years. He was 81 years old. The burial will take place at Salem
cemetery at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The deceased was the father of
six sons and one daughter, who are as follows: Sam of Los Angeles,
Cal.; Frank of Little Rock, Ark.; Joseph of El Paso, Tex.;
Jediah and Abbie who reside in Helt township; Jasper N., who is
postmaster of Clinton, and Mrs. Charles Peeler of Dana, Ind. Mr.
Frist was one of the best known men in this part of the
country and the Plaindealer regrets very much to chronicle his sudden
demise, as the writer is an old friend of the family.
CLINTON -- Patricia J. Frist, 68, of Clinton died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2001, in Heritage House Nursing Home. She was a bookkeeper and insurance agent. She was born May 19, 1932, in Clinton to Harry Frist and Mable Boyd Frist. Survivors include three sisters, Emily Saxton and Esther Foltz, both of Clinton and Shirley Jones of Montezuma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Tau sorority, American Association of Retired Persons, and El Shaddai Emmaus Community. Services are 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial is in Helts Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is 5 p.m. until services Tuesday in the church. Frist Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Deaths of the Week
ALBERT F. FULTZ, prominent Democrat and citizen of Eugene, Eugene township, died Saturday afternoon of heart trouble at his home.
He was the son of Isaac and Anna Keller Fultz, whose parents were among the earliest settlers of Vermillion County. Deceased was born May 12, 1858 (61 years old at death). He was one of 3 children and the first one to pass away. William W. Fultz and Isaac E. Fultz are surviving brothers and Clara B. Whipple, a surviving sister.
He was married in 1878 to Ida May Johnson, and of this union was born 6 children, 5 of whom survive - Charles N. Fultz, Crawfordsville; Mamie Chaffee, Cayuga; Pearl Shallenberger, Jesse C. Fultz, Terre Haute; Audrey E. and Doyne Fultz.
He was a member of the last registration board, board of review and served his township as assessor for 20 years which shows the popularity of the deceased. No man was better acquainted with his township, knew values better and was "fairer and squarer" with the taxpayers than Albert F. Fultz. If he had not been efficient and honest he could not have served his people 20 years by popular vote.
Besides his work as an officer, he was a carpenter and contractor and built many residences in the three north townships.
Short funeral services were conducted at his late home Monday afternoon by undertaker George L. Watson. Burial took place in the Eugene Cemetery.
