Hooker-Meriwether 50th Anniversary

Clayton Hooker

Dana -- A family dinner will be served at noon Sunday celebrating the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hooker at their home.  During the afternoon, open house will be from 2 to 5 o'clock.

They were married at the home of Mrs. Hooker's parents, Josiah and Susan Edwards Meriwether, have resided in Vermillion County, Ind., many years, raising their family on a farm a few miles from Dana.  After retiring, they moved to Dana.

Mr. Hooker's grandfather, Samuel Aikman, who also was able to celebrate his golden wedding, was a pioneer of Vermillion County, and a promoter of Dana, having donated lots to the city.

Mrs. Hooker's mother resided with them until her death four years ago, when she was 92 years old.

Mr. Hooker and his twin brother, Clarence J., have always resided near each other.  Clarence and his wife will observe their golden wedding in 1937.

The children, Harry Hooker, Indianapolis, Mrs. Paul James and Mrs. John Lauer, both of Dana, and their families are to attend.  A fourth son, Thad, Cleveland, Ohio, was unable to come.  Mrs. Hooker's brother, Jack Meriwether, Indianapolis, is with them as well as the three grandsons and grand-daughter.

Mrs. Hooker enjoys exceptionally good health and is very active being interested in church work and a member of two clubs.  Mrs. Hooker has reasonably good health and walks to town each day.  Among their several gifts and congratulations was a basket of yellow roses from Merry Housewives Club.
