Ford Family Reunion

How seldom the members of a large family ever all reach the old homestead at the same time, when once separated.  More than 20 years ago, the children of Mrs. ROSANNA FORD began leaving the old home, drawn from thence by the ordinary circumstances of life.  From that day until Sunday, November 8, 1874, the same roof  has never sheltered all at the same time, and in all probability never will again.  The visit of Dr. John A. Ford, of Wisconsin, was made the occasion to sound the old family dinner horn, and W.D. Ford, the owner of the old homestead, gave the blast.  There were present Dr. John A. Ford, of Wisconsin; Capt. A.C. Ford, of Cincinnati; Mrs. John S. James, Mr. W.F. Ford, Mrs. T.F. Ammerman, and Mrs. Peter Ammerman, of Helt township; and Mrs. Ward Farrington, of Bloomington, IN, and their families - in all, 38 souls, besides the mother and grandmother, Mrs. Ford.  All the sons and two of the sons-in-law were in the Army from one to four years; Dr. John A. Ford losing a leg in one of the very last battles in Virginia.  This family has been fortunate in life and health, since the death of its head, RICHARD FORD, a man of great energy, who died nearly 30 years ago, only one death occurring, that of an infant of one of the daughters.
