Patriot Cemetery
Posey Township

List by Wanda Morford
In Deed Book R, p. 188, in the office of the Switzerland County recorder, is the following: Grounds belonging to Patriot Lodge No. 9 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, located and adjoining the town of Patriot - a portion of which is dedicated to the uses of cemetery purposes. Section 1 and 2 of the plat are designated for this use. Resolution that the lots not sold could be sold.

(signed) January 4, 1875
John W. Shirey, Trustee of Patriot
Lodge No. 9 I.O.O.F
There is a plat of the cemetery showing it as being on Columbia Street. It appears from the present boundaries of the Cemetery that many of the lots may not have been sold, and the ground remains unused.
