one of the
leading farmers of Posey Township, and son of Jacob R. Harris, was born in Switzerland County in
August, 1839. He grew to maturity on the farm with his parents, and shared the advantages of the
common schools. When about twenty-one years of age he married Rachel Scranton, daughter of
Robert Scranton, and engaged in business on his own responsibility. He has been
quite successful, and now owns one of the best bottom farms in the county.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris have three children: Pearl, Gertrude and Lucian.
