Patricia Ann Zyto, 70, formerly of W.
Parkway, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2000, at
St. Joseph Care Center. Born on October 29, 1930, in South Bend,
to her parents, Martin and Martha Zyto, who preceded her in
death. She is survived by Alice and Ed Kowalski, her aunt
and uncle, and Mary Jo Harman, her caregiver. She was a
member of Memorial Hospital Retirees, Tops in 70, past president
of the Michiana Rose Society, also past president and lifetime
member of the Valeria A. Zell Auxiliary 146, and Army and Navy
Union. On August 1977, in Cleveland, Ohio, Pat was elected
national Lady President of the National Corps Ladies Auxiliary of
the Army and Navy Union, USA, which is the oldest veteran
organization in the United States. She was honored April 1978
with a testimonial dinner and dance at the St. Adalbert Hall,
South Bend. Her term ending in August 1978 at the National
Encampment in New York City. As a lifelong parishioner of St.
Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of Harvest House and
Altar Society, and served at one time as a liturgical reader and
Eucharistic minister. She also belonged to the Rosary Society and
Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig Catholic Church. On December 19,
1995, Pat retired from Memorial Family Practice Center where she
did collections. She was the first to achieve 46 years of service
with Memorial Hospital Health Systems.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. Tuesday, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. Friends will meet
in church the morning of the services which are to be held at
10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Hill St.,
South Bend. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
