SOUTH BEND - Steve "Muggsy" Zwierzynski, 61,
passed away in the Cardinal Nursing Home on Thursday morning
after battling with type I diabetes and other health issues.
Steven was born on Jan. 18, 1947, in South Bend to Ted and Rose (Bagarus)
Zwierzynski. He is survived by his mother, Rose Zwierzynski of
South Bend; brothers, Ted (Charlotte) Zwierzynski of Walkerton,
Walter Zwierzynski of Mishawaka, and Don Zwierzynski of South
Bend; sisters, Rosalie (Les) Galloway of Osceola and
Suzanne (Rich) Montalvo of Rochester as well as many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted
Zwierzynski in 1985 and a brother Ted Zwierzynski Jr. in 1938.
Steven was a 1966 graduate of North Liberty High School.
He was employed at Torrington Company for 18
years before they closed the factory in South Bend and worked at
his father and brother's business, T & D Shell Car Wash, for
several years. He was a member of the F.O.P, and the N.R.A.
Steven always laughed as he told stories to family and friends
and was always there to help someone who needed a favor. If he
saw something he thought you would enjoy, he would surprise you
with a gift. He was never selfish and would give the shirt off
his back. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. He is now in Heaven with
our father and brother, together they're watching over the rest
of our family. We miss him deeply but we know he is not suffering
any more.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11
a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble
Avenue. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Family and
friends may call from 2 to 6 Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
