SOUTH BEND - Shirley A. Zultanski passed away on December 22,
2009 after a brief illness. Shirley was born February 12, 1927 in
Chicago , IL to Ralph and Audrey Norris. On August 3rd 1946 she
married Walter S. Zultanski who survives. Other survivors include
her daughters, Carol A. (Charles) Copley of Osceola , IN and
Bonnie J. (Mark) Hurley of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving
are five grandchildren, Joy, Jay, Shannon, Sean and Ryan. She has
two great grandchildren, Olivia and Winnie. Other survivors
include her sister, Mary Zakrowski along with many nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two
sisters. From a very young age Shirley was a well known
entertainer. She was a regular first place winner in the
"Popeye Club Talent Show". At the age of 16 she sang
with Dick Jergens Band at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago . She
could not travel with the band because of her age. Shirley was a
favorite entertainer in many area restaurants and clubs in the
Michiana area. She was the "Theatre Lady" in many
children's productions. She wrote and sang singing telegrams at
many functions. She was a featured guest on many local radio and
tv shows singing one of her many well written parodies. She would
also design costumes to fit any occasion. She wrote and performed
songs for campaigns of Joe Donnely and Birch Bayh. For many years
she one half of the "Golden Girls" duo who performed at
many area functions. Any song requested she could sing. She sang
a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem at many local
sporting events. She had an amazing career as a pre-school
Teacher that spanned 50 years. She taught at Temple Beth-El and
the South Bend Hebrew Day School . Generations of families loved
"Mrs. Shirley". Shirley was the most generous woman
with the biggest heart and always put her family and friends
first. She will leave a void in the lives of many and will be
missed by everyone whose life she touched. We love you- your
loving husband, daughters, grandchildren and great
granddaughters. Visitation will be Sunday, December 27 from 3 to
6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street , Mishawaka .
Funeral services will be on Monday, December 28 at 11 a.m. in the
funeral home, with Rev. Terry Fisher and Rabbi Reuven Pelberg,
officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery , Mishawaka
