Rev. Thomas W.
Zimmerman CSC, 67, of Dhaka, Bangladesh, formerly of Moreau
Seminary at Notre Dame, died Monday in Dhaka of an apparent heart
attack. He was born March 2, 1926 in Hammond, Ind. He entered
Holy Cross Seminary in 1942, professed his vows in 1945, and was
ordained to the priesthood on June 10, 1953 at Notre Dame. He
served as chancellor of the Archdiocese of Dhaka and religious
superior of Holy Cross priests in Bangladesh, and was the first
Vice-Provincial of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Vice-Province, as
well as rector of the intermediate seminary and the cathedral
church. He was director of the marriage tribunal and was a
teacher. He served in Bangladesh for 40 years. Survivors include
a sister, Sister Margaret Ann Zimmerman OSF, of Joliet,
Ill.
Memorial services
will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Moreau Seminary at Notre Dame. Burial
has taken place in Dhaka.
