SOUTH BEND - Duane O. Zeiger, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away
at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Community Hospital,
Bremen, IN. He was born on January 16, 1925 in Lakeville, IN to
Otto and Irene (Schafer) Zeiger. He has been a lifelong area
resident. On March 24, 1962 in Lakeville, IN he married Virginia
Margaret (Balsley) Zeiger, who preceded him in death on June 10,
2006. Mr. Zeiger is survived by his son and daughter in law,
Daniel O. (Lynne) Zeiger of Bremen, IN; eight grandchildren, Jeff
Kincaid, Gloria Zeiger, Nina Zeiger, Lucy Zeiger, Shelfie Zeiger,
Gabrielle Hand, Danielle Espy, and Jonelle Thompson and three
great grandchildren. His brother, Paul Zeiger preceded him in
death. Mr. Zeiger was the President and co-owner of Zeiger
Brothers, Inc., a milk transportation and farming business. He
retired in 1999 after lifelong work. Mr. Zeiger was a member of
the Lakeville United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #353 and
was the National president of the Junior Farm Bureau "Rural
Youth". He traveled to Germany, Russia, New Zealand, Austria
and many other countries in Europe. Funeral services will be held
11 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2009 in Lakeville United Methodist
Church, 610 N. Michigan St. Lakeville, IN. Graveside services and
burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN. Friends may
visit with the family from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Palmer
Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN where a Masonic
Service will be held at 2 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in
the church. Contributions in memory of Duane O. Zeiger may be
donated to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 111
