Obituary: David M. Yuhasz April 14, 1952 -- Nov. 13, 2003
David Michael Yuhasz, 51, of Clay Township, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, in his home. Born April 14, 1952, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Frank J. and Jane (Mark) Yuhasz Sr. On Oct. 20, 1973, David married the love of his life, Jenny Lee Barber, who survives to mourn his death, along with daughters, Jane 26, Emily 22, Allen 17, Sarah 12; his grandson, Christopher 2; brothers, Larry M. of South Bend and Frank "John" Yuhasz Jr. and wife, Ruthie of Mishawaka; son-in-law, David Castaneda; along with many nieces and nephews and so many lifetime and longtime friends. David was a proud graduate of LaSalle High School in 1970. His first jobs included Thrift-T-Mart and Martin's Supermarket. For the last twenty years, he was employed by Stanz Food Service, where he most recently drove a delivery truck. In his younger years, Dave liked to race muscle cars, listen to rock-n-roll and was the source of many neighborhood hijinks in the 60's. After he began to have children, Dave devoted all of his spare time to helping with school functions. He was an assistant basketball and track coach at Darden Elementary School and has been a big supporter and ticket taker for many years for the Clay High School boys basketball and football programs. He loved to go to record and car shows, collect memorabilia and antiques and spend time with his family. He was also an active member of the Teamsters Union. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Friends may call today, Nov. 17, from 3 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Dave's heartfelt smile and actions will be remembered by so many who loved and knew him. Memorial contributions are preferred to flowers for Dave's two children who are still living at home through the Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. |
