Myron W. Yoder, 89 of Mishawaka passed away Thursday, June
26, 2008 in his home. He was born on September 5, 1918, in
Elkhart, to the late William Henry and Katherine E. (Snyder)
Yoder. While growing up in Elkhart, Myron attended and graduated
from Osolo Township Grade School, Elkhart High School and Elkhart
Business College.
Myron was preceded in death by his first
wife, Maxine Helen (Bennett) Yoder in 1946. On October 24,
1948 he married Virginia May Moore, together they were married
for 45 years before she passed away on May 8, 1994. Myron was
also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean Yoder on Dec. 6,
1999. Myron retired in 1986 after working for the South Bend
Community School Corp., where he had been Director of Purchasing
for 20 years. He had also worked at Wheelabrator Corp. for 25
years as a Buyer - Assistant to Director of Purchases and he
worked for Platt Trailer Company in Elkhart from 1938 - 1941 as a
Male Secretary - Purchasing Agent. Myron had been a member of
First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka since 1950. He was
affiliated with the Mishawaka Jaycees as the Secretary; he was on
the Board for Purchasing Agents Association and Indiana
Association School of Business Officials Instructor at Ivy Tech.
He also belonged to the Mishawaka Lodge #130 of F&A M,
Scottish Rite - Valley of South Bend, Orak Temple - Noble of the
Mystic Shrine and the Orak Temple - Brass Band Myron is survived
by his daughter, Nancy Scheumann and her husband, Mark, of Cedar
Rapids, Iowa; his son, Stephen Yoder and his wife, Debera, of
Granger; five grandchildren, Heather Landers and her husband,
Matt, Kristin Scheumann, Kurt Scheumann, Colin Yoder and Becky
Yoder; and his caregiver, April Moore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June
28, at 1:30 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North,
17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, with Rev. Ron Bowman
officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of
services. A Masonic Service will be held at 1 p.m. today in the
funeral home. Per Myron's wish, please make memorial
