SOUTH BEND - Virginia May (Arney) Yazich, 88, passed peacefully
from this life on Saturday morning, April 24, 2010, in her home
in South Bend. Virginia was born on December 21, 1921, in
Mishawaka, to Willard and Sue Arney. She grew up in South Bend
and Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School. She went
to work at Uniroyal (Ball Band) where she met her beloved
husband, Frederick. After marriage she worked for many years at
Bendix, before leaving to raise her son and assist her husband at
the Yazich Insurance Agency, which he founded. Virginia was a
member of Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church where she
and Frederick contributed to the establishment of the church and
hall on Keria Trail. She was also a member of the Women's Circle
of Serbian Sisters, and often traveled with the choir. Virginia
is remembered for her warm smile and gracious hospitality. She
hosted many family gatherings at her home where friends,
neighbors and family always felt welcome. She loved to laugh,
especially with her "Freddy." As she grew ill, she told
visitors that she was grateful for her long and happy life, and
for the support and care of her dear son, Rick. Virginia was
preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Nicholas Yazich; her
infant son, Nickie Yazich; and by her brother, Harry Arney. She
is survived by her son, Frederick A. "Rick" Yazich; her
nieces, Millie (Yazich) Vasiliades, Mara (Kubat) Vertrees, Julie
Kubat, Dawn (Kubat) Moffett, Mandy (Manczunski) Bujeker, and
