George Franklin Yaw, 73, of Maplehurst Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, March 26, in the Hospice House of St. Joseph County, South Bend, Ind. George was born on Jan. 10, 1926, in Niles, Mich., to Frank L. and Kitty K. (Cook) Yaw, both of whom preceded him in death.
On May 10, 1958, in Osceola, Ind., George married Berneta Joyce Peters. George leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Joyce; two sons, Bruce W. (Deborah) Johnson of Osceola, Ronald E. (Sharon D.) Johnson of Elkhart, Ind.; a daughter, Pamela K. (Sam) Johnson-Thompson of Whitleyville, Tenn.; brothers, Robert Yaw of Niles, Richard Yaw of Goshen, Ind., Mike Yaw of Union, Mich., Charles Schetticatte and Roy Schetticatte, both of Osceola; a sister, Grace Carr of Cassopolis, Mich.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Schetticatte.
Friends may visit with the family at noon on Tuesday with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Nanni will be officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. George was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mishawaka, and bass Anglers Sportsman Society. He was also a great great bowler. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
