SOUTH BEND - Rita T. Yanko, 80, passed away on Tuesday, November
10, 2009, at 7:30 a.m. in her residence. Rita was born on July
23, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Karl and Bernice
(Trojanowski) Lubinski. On June 24, 1950, she married David G.
Yanko Jr., who preceded her in death on December 3, 1998. She was
also preceded in death by her son, Brian Yanko; and by her
brother, Bernard Lubinski. She is survived by her two daughters,
Annemarie (James) Phelps of South Bend, Beth Anna Fuller of North
Liberty, IN; daughter-in-law, Debbie Yanko of Versailles, KY;
eight grandchildren, Michelle Kajzer, Alan Kajzer, Carl Fuller,
Grace Fuller, Hannah Fuller, Matthew Wooten, Rachael and Emily
Yanko; one great-grandchild, Jenna Zielinski; her sister, Eileen
Lesher of South Bend; and by her brother, John F. Lubinski of
South Bend. Rita was a member of the St. Ann Society and
volunteered at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She
loved to sew, crochet blankets, read, and enjoyed taking care of
her roses. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic
Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, in ST. JOSEPH
FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be
prayed at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Friday, November 13, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of
Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St, Joseph
Cemetery. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy,
condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
