SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Macrina CSC, Helen Mary Wrobel, 99,
was born in South Bend to the late Peter and Mary Wisnieski
Wrobel. Sister was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter,
Harry, John, Frank and Edward; and sisters, Carmelia, Esther,
Clara and Eslia; and by nieces, Joan Walzak, Kathleen Sobieralski
and Kathy Martin; and nephews, Richard Wrobel, Ron Lemanski
and Norman Lind. Sister is survived by her nieces, Marsha Sekendy,
Justine Soboleski, Dolores Chadwick and Nancy Tromboli,
all of South Bend, Norma Podell, Illinois, Mary Ann Riffel
of Mishawaka and Sister Arthur, Livonia, MI; nephews, Richard
Podell, Jim Wrobel, Ed Lind and Paul Lind, all of South Bend,
Robert Wrobel of Michigan and Alan Lind of Muncie.
Before entering the Sisters of the Holy
Cross, Sister Macrina worked as a clerk. Following her entry into
the congregation, Sister became a teacher for the elementary
grades. She taught for 52 years in elementary schools in
Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Indiana. When she was in Michigan
City, Sister was parish visitor for eight years. Following her
time in Michigan City, Sister retired to Saint Mary's and was
active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial
contributions may be made to Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry
with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
Reception of the body will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26th,
in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady
of Loretto. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
