Mrs. Mary Hertel Wortinger, aged 69, of 423 East Howard street, died at 10:40 a.m. today in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer J. Danch, 119 East. Marion street. She had been in ill health about two years. She was born June 29, 1875 in Volo, Ill., and was married Sept. 17, 1896, to Michael Hertel in Goshen, Ind. He was killed by a train Feb. 17, 1918. In 1919 she married John L. Wortinger, who survives. She leaves three sons, Paul Hertel, of South Bend, Ray Hertel of Seattle, Wash., and Norbert Hertel of Omaha, Neb., and six daughters; Mrs. Danch, Mrs. Paul Irish of Seattle; Miss Hildegarde Hertel, of Oakland, Calif.; Sisters M. Ivan, C.S.C and M. John Michael, C.S.C. of Hammond, Ind., and Sister M. Claire Marie C.S.C., of Valparaiso, Ind. Mrs. Wortinger was a member of St. Patricks Roman Catholic church and of its Alter and Rosary societies, of the Bengalese mission and the St. Joseph Hospital Aid society.

A solemn requiem high mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Patricks Roman Catholic church for Mrs. Mary Hertel Wortinger, aged 69, of 423 East Howard street, who died Tuesday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer J. Danch, 119 East Marion street. Rev. Patrick H. Dolan, C.S.C. pastor of the church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Walter Higgins, C.S.C, and Rev. Edmund V. Campers, C.S.C. Burial will be in the family plot in Oakridge cemetery, Goshen, Ind. Friends may call in the Danch residence from 7 oclock tonight until the service hour. The Notre Dame circle, Daughters of Isabella, will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Friday night.
