SOUTH BEND - M. Bernice Worthen, 97, of South Bend, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in her home surrounded by family. Bernice was born on November 12, 1910, in Edwardsburg, MI, to the late Obra and Georgia (Smith) Brown.

On June 4, 1930, in Edwardsburg, she married Clifford Worthen, who passed away August 25, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael, and two half brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Constance Scott, and son, Charles (Connie) Worthen of South, both of South Bend; two grandchildren, Michele Worthen and Melissa (Eric) Ornat; and two great-grandchildren, Jesse and Lacey. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church, South Bend. She was also a member of the Merry-Go-Round Club.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with two hours of visitation prior to the services. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
