SOUTH BEND - James Wooten, Jr., 68, of 226 Weber Street, Roseland, Ind., passed away at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in Healthwin Specialized Care. He had retired from the Bendix Corp. in 1984 after many years of service. He was born to James and Mame Wooten in Cuthbert, Ga., on Dec. 12, 1929. He had lived in the South Bend area since 1950.
On July 12, 1951, in South Bend, he married Joan M. Banaszak, who preceded him in death in October 1977. Mr. Wooten is survived by a daughter, Debra Ann Wooten, and a son, Dale Wooten, Sr., both of South Bend; two sisters, Mildred Yankee of Florida and Lois Perkins of West Virginia; a brother, Lester Wooten of Cassopolis, Mich.; and two loving grandchildren.
Mr. Wooten was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Mishawaka, and was a veteran of the Koren Conflict.
Funeral services and visitation hours on Monday, Jan. 13, are private. The family requests that no flowers be sent but memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc., or to the charity of donor's choice. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Arrangements were handled by Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, West Ireland Road at Indiana 23, South Bend.
