MISHAWAKA - George E. Woolley Sr., 88, of Mishawaka,
passed away at 3:02 p.m. Friday Dec. 7, 2007, in Saint Joseph's
Regional Medical Center, South Bend. George retired in 1972 from
the Bendix Corporation. He worked in research and development as
an engineering technician in the aeronautical division. He then
worked for the Sundstrand Corporation in Rockford, IL, until
1981. George was born January 12, 1919, in Peru, IN, to the late
Newell N. and Effie (Fisher) Woolley, but had lived in the
South Bend area most of his life. He and his wife also lived in
Mission, Texas, for 12 years.
On December 18, 1943, in South Bend, he
married Geneva "Neva" (Corey) Woolley, who
survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna (Mike) Darch
of Deltona, FL, Barbara (Charles) Eminger of Jasper,
Alabama; two sons, Curtis (Harriett) Woolley of Granger, IN,
George E. (Karen) Woolley Jr. of Plano, TX. Also surviving are
nine grandchildren, Clint (Joyce) Darch, Nikki Leiter,
Andrew (Jan), Corey, Alison Eminger, Tracy (Marc) Thompson,
Steven (Sommer) Woolley, Jeremy and David Woolley; and five
great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Madelene Fry and Maxine Arthur,
preceded him in death. A special thank you to the Ironwood Health
and Rehabilitation Center and Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center for the wonderful care and support.
Masonic services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
with funeral services following on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, in the
Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.
Friends may call from noon Tuesday until the time of the
services. George graduated from Peru High School in 1937. He was
past master of the former Portage Lodge #675 F&AM and was a
member of St. Joseph Lodge #45. George loved music and loved to
ballroom dance, sing and play golf. George and Neva loved to RV
travel the United States. Contributions in memory of George E.
Woolley Sr. may be made to the Masonic Hospital's Dyslexia
Foundation or to the charity of choice.
