11, 1939 - July 4, 2010OSCEOLA - Jerry B. "JB" Woods, 71, of Osceola, died Sunday morning, July 4, 2010, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Florence, Alabama, on April 11, 1939, to the late Johnnie T. and Mattie B. (Wesson) Woods. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Young and Eunice Baskin; and three brothers, Robert Earl Woods, Homer Woods and Charles Woods. He was employed at Dodge Manufacturing as a machinist and painter from 1966-1999. He also painted and restored classic cars. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, South Bend. JB loved being with his family and friends, and enjoyed working in his gardens. On April 14, 1960, in Mishawaka, he married Diane K. Moore, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Vicki (Kenny) Dodd of Osceola, IN; sons, Jerry Woods and Grady (Roxanne) Woods, both of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren, Shawnda Dodd Sciba, Kenneth Dodd II, Corey (Melissa) Woods, Diane Woods, Taylor Nicole Woods and Zachary Woods; great-grandchildren, Christopher "Hunter" Bernard and Adriana Sciba; sisters, Virginia Patterson, Frances Briggs, Betty Stanfield and Lois Eaton, all of Florence, Alabama; brothers, James C. (Joan) Woods of Florence, Alabama, and Johnnie "Gene" Woods of Mishawaka, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, in the Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way W., Osceola, IN, with Rev. Connie Sauer, Community of Christ Church, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to ZIFH@aol.com. God's finger touched him and he slipped away from earth's dark shadows to a brighter day; God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb; He gently closed his weary eyes, and whispered "Peace be thine."
