SOUTH BEND - Mr. Albert Bernard "Jelly Bean" Woods, 75, who resided on East 12th Street, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Countryside Place Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Mishawaka, Indiana. Albert was born on July 31, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana to the union of James l. and Maude E. (Scruggs) Woods, who both preceded him in death. He was brought up in the Churches of God in Christ. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country. "Jelly Bean" loved to collect copper and he also loved to talk and joke. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Vertiselle, Waddell, Lonnie Vern, Gerald and Ronald Merle Woods; two sisters, Lillian Chinn and Edrith Maxine Redd. Survivors left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Fredricka; five grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Nicholes of South Bend; and a brother, James Woods Jr. of Chicago, IL; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Albert Bernard "Jelly Bean" Woods will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Alford's Mortuary, with visitation occurring one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial will take place on Monday, June 9, 2008, at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary.
