SOUTH BEND - Floyd E. Wood Sr., 77, of South Bend, passed away at
4:43 p.m. Thursday at Hospice House in South Bend after an
extended illness. Mr. Wood was born on September 10, 1932, in
California, and resided in the South Bend area for the past five
years, coming from California. Floyd is survived by two
daughters, Marilyn Jean (Patrick) Willyard and Tabora Jean Wood,
both of Modesto, CA. Two sons, Floyd E. (Kim) Wood Jr. of South
Bend and Thomas E. Wood of Modesto, CA. A sister, Lois Bartman of
Niles, Michigan. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren whom he loved and cherished. Mr. Wood was
preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. and Bessie Wood. A
sister, Marion Heacox, and by two brothers, Harry C. Wood Jr. and
Edward Wood. Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army, being
discharged as a E-5 Sgt. He served during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to becoming ill, he was a Furnace and Air Conditioning
Service Technician. Mr. Wood's wishes were to be cremated, which
his family honored. There will be no visitation or services at
this time. The HANLEY & SONS "Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road / Indiana
23, South Bend, handled arrangements and extends its deepest
sympathy to the Wood family.
